What is your experience with Autistic children?
Our practice is based on a neurodiversity paradigm. As sensory trained Speech Language Pathologists, we understand that sensory regulation is a key driver in developing communication. By incorporating our sensory knowledge with gestalt language processing information and approaching therapy from a child-led view, we work to establish therapy sessions in an optimal learning zone.
Our therapists have worked with minimally-speaking autistic children and are trained in using the latest research methods to identify the best Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) device that will meet the specific needs of your child.
Do you have experience working with children with motor speech disorders or apraxia?
All of our therapists have experience working with motor speech difficulties, including apraxia. Our speech-language pathologists are PROMPT trained, allowing us to provide specialized support for these conditions. We are dedicated to helping children improve their speech and communication skills.
Do you see children with a medical diagnosis (e.g. Autism, Down Syndrome, Cleft Palate)?
Our therapy team has experience working with children who have various diagnoses and neurodiverse populations across the spectrum of environments from acute care to home. We can also provide support while you are waiting for a developmental assessment. Your child’s unique needs are our priority, and we are here to help.
Do you see children with disabilities or rare diagnoses/disorders?
We have experience working with children who have various disabilities and developmental diagnoses. The best approach is to contact us to discuss your child’s communication needs. If we determine that we aren’t the best fit to support them, we will do our best to help you find another Speech-Language Pathologist who can meet their needs. Your child’s progress is our priority.
What is the cost for your services?
We adhere to the standard rates set by Speech-Language and Audiology Canada (www.sac-oac.ca) for Speech-Language Pathologists in Ontario. As each child’s needs are different, fees vary depending on the services you are seeking. We understand that private service fees can be a financial burden for some families. If you reside in Ontario, we recommend exploring the public preschool speech and language program or connecting with the speech-language department at your child’s school board, in addition to considering our private services. Your child’s needs are important to us, and we are here to help you navigate your options.
What payment options do you accept?
We accept e-transfers, cash or cheques at the end of each session. An invoice will be provided for your records. If you have any questions about payment, feel free to reach out!
Do you offer any webinars, online discussions or information sessions? Are these covered by extended health benefits?
Yes, at certain times throughout the year we do offer webinars and information sessions. Please stay tuned to our website for regular updates on dates and topics. Some sessions will be free, while others will have a minimal cost. These sessions will be facilitated by Speech-Language Pathologists but are not considered therapy. If there is a cost associated with a session, you will receive a receipt. However, we cannot guarantee that this will be covered by your health insurance provider. We recommend contacting your provider prior to registering to confirm coverage.
